Little Rhythm Co – Child Safety Policy

Purpose
Little Rhythm Co is committed to ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and protection of all children in our care. We provide a nurturing, inclusive, and supportive environment where children can learn, explore, and thrive.

1. Staff Screening & Qualifications

  • All Little Rhythm Co staff and volunteers hold a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC) and a National Police Check.

  • Staff are selected based on suitability, experience, and commitment to child safety.

  • References are checked for all new staff members.

2. Supervision

  • Children must be supervised by a caregiver at all times unless otherwise stated.

  • Staff maintain appropriate staff-to-child ratios to ensure safety and engagement.

  • Caregivers are responsible for children before and after class, including bathroom breaks and arrival/departure times.

3. Behaviour Expectations

  • Children and caregivers are expected to behave respectfully at all times.

  • Aggressive, unsafe, or inappropriate behaviour is not tolerated.

  • Staff may intervene to ensure safety and may ask children or caregivers to leave the class if behaviour compromises safety.

4. Reporting Concerns

  • Parents, caregivers, or staff can report safety concerns directly to Little Rhythm Co staff.

  • Staff are mandatory reporters under Australian law and will follow legal requirements in the case of suspected abuse or neglect.

  • Reports are taken seriously, documented, and addressed promptly.

5. Environment Safety

  • Classes are conducted in safe, secure venues with age-appropriate equipment.

  • Venue entry and exit procedures are designed to protect children and prevent unauthorised access.

  • Equipment is checked regularly for safety and maintained appropriately.

  • Emergency evacuation plans are in place and staff are trained in procedures.
